Feng shui expert Au Chung-tak is a master at finding the right balance in the apartment of your dreams.

This is a southwest facing flat. The chi that boosts romance and relationships comes from the southwest to this flat. In feng shui, chi is a natural energy source that flows constantly around us. It can be diverted to where it is needed and harnessed for our well-being.

The flat overlooks two swimming pools and the presence of water affects the harmony of the environment.

There are five elements that affect the flow of chi. They are water, wood, fire, earth and metal.

The other important constituents of feng shui are yin and yang. They represent the two opposite forces that affect the movement of chi. Good feng shui is achieved with an ideal balance between yin and yang and the five elements.

It's important that the two swimming pools do not generate too much chi, which can invited bad luck in a relationship. A married couple living here will tend to have lots of arguments. A single man or woman living here will also be likely to disagree with is or her partner.

But this can easily be resolved. All you need to do is grow bamboo near the sitting room window and try to close the curtains as much as possible. A single man should use four bamboo plants and a woman should use three because in feng shui, the number three is associated with man and four is associated with woman.

Nurturing the appropriate number of bamboo plants for the opposite sex can help a man or woman to absorb the unwanted chi that causes problems in a relationship. Married couples should grow and plants near the sitting room window. In the five elements, earth absorbs water and that means the earth in which you grow the plant can help to absorb the water from the swimming pools.

The master bedroom is painted blue. Feng shui considers blue to be a yin colour. Other yin colours include dark brown, dark red and black.

Too much yin creates bad feng shui and can make the occupant constantly gloomy.

The room needs balance and this can be achieved by adding yang elements. Most of the day, the room is dark. It only receives sunlight in the late afternoon as it faces the west. Feng shui considers sunlight to be yang.

For this room, I suggest changing the colour of the walls to a yang colour such as khaki or light yellow. In general, unless your room has a lot of natural light, you should consider decorating your room in a yang colour.

In the master bedroom, if you get out of bed and look at the bathroom, you can see a mirror. According to feng shui, reflective objects like shiny marbles, steel furniture and mirrors can reflect the chi and affect the physical and mental health of people in the bedroom.

I wound recommend avoid hanging mirrors in the bedroom. If you want to have m mirror in your bathroom, you should make sure that it's not facing the door which leads to your bedroom.

Finally, in the sitting room, there is a fish tank, but it is in the wrong position. It should be placed at the "prosperity" location of the flat to encourage the generation of wealth. In this case, the prosperity position is in the south of the flat, in the guest room. You should keep eight red gold fish here because feng shui always associates the number eight and the colour red with luck in making money.
